Assessments, Estimates & Pricing
What happens during the initial assessment?

Serve Xpert reviews the conditions, documents findings, identifies visible sources or contributing conditions, explains the recommended next step, and prepares a scope or estimate when applicable.

How are an estimate and an inspection different?

An estimate describes and prices proposed restoration work based on the conditions we can assess. A professional inspection includes an on-site visual assessment and written findings. Call and describe what you’re seeing so we can confirm the right visit for your situation.

How is pricing determined?

Pricing depends on the service type, affected areas, severity, access, safety considerations, equipment needs, materials, labor, documentation, and the work required.

Can the price change after work begins?

Pricing can change if additional damage, hidden conditions, added areas, unsafe conditions, access issues, or additional requested services are discovered. Added or materially changed work requires customer authorization and may require a Change Order. Where applicable law requires a signed written Change Order, the required signatures control.

Water Damage Questions
How serious is water damage if the area looks mostly dry?

Water can remain behind walls, under flooring, inside cabinets, beneath baseboards, in insulation, and in hidden cavities even after visible water is gone. Moisture detection helps determine what is actually affected.

How long does water damage drying take?

Many drying projects take 3 to 5 days, but timing depends on water category, affected materials, moisture levels, humidity, airflow, temperature, access, and site conditions.

What are water damage categories?

Water damage categories describe the contamination level of the water. Category 1 is from a sanitary source, Category 2 may contain contamination, and Category 3 is grossly contaminated water such as sewage or floodwater.

Can water damage cause mold?

Yes. Mold growth conditions can develop when moisture, humidity, organic materials, and limited airflow remain present. Fast extraction, drying, moisture control, and treatment when appropriate help reduce that risk.

Do you remove wet materials?

Wet, damaged, contaminated, or non-salvageable materials may be removed when required by condition, water category, safety concern, or written scope. Water Damage Restoration

Mold Remediation Questions
How fast can mold grow after water damage?

Mold growth conditions can begin within 24 to 48 hours when moisture remains present. Timing depends on time, temperature, humidity, moisture, heat, airflow, affected materials, organic material, and site conditions.

Do you remove mold-affected materials?

Yes. Mold-affected porous materials may be removed when they cannot be effectively cleaned or stabilized based on condition, contamination, moisture exposure, or written scope.

Do you provide mold testing?

Serve Xpert assesses visible conditions and performs mold remediation. For air or surface sampling, lab analysis, or independent post-remediation verification, arrange a qualified third-party assessor. If independent verification is part of your project, coordinate it before the work area is disturbed or controls are removed.

Can you identify mold type?

Serve Xpert can discuss common indoor mold types generally. Specific mold type identification requires third-party lab testing when species identification is needed.

Can mold come back?

Mold can return if moisture problems continue or new water damage occurs. That is why moisture source identification, drying when needed, material review, and customer next steps are important parts of the process. Mold Remediation

Fire & Smoke Damage Questions
Can smoke and soot cause long-term damage?

Yes. Smoke and soot residue can discolor materials, affect finishes, spread through rooms, settle into materials, and leave odor behind if affected areas are not cleaned correctly.

Can fire damage cause water damage?

Yes. Fire suppression activity can leave water inside flooring, walls, ceilings, insulation, framing, and hidden cavities. When suppression water is present, water extraction, moisture detection, drying, and stabilization may be needed.

Why does smoke odor stay after a fire?

Smoke odor can absorb into porous materials, contents, fabrics, drywall, cabinets, HVAC-related areas, and hidden spaces. Odor control starts with identifying and addressing the source.

Do you clean contents after fire damage?

Contents may require evaluation, cleaning, odor control, disposal coordination, inventory, or documentation depending on the material, residue type, condition, and severity. Fire Damage Restoration

Storm Damage Questions
Do you provide roof tarping and board-up?

Yes. Serve Xpert can provide temporary protection such as roof tarping, emergency board-up, opening protection, and property stabilization based on site conditions and access.

Is tarping or board-up a permanent repair?

No. Roof tarping, board-up, and opening protection are temporary protection services. Permanent repairs or reconstruction are separate unless specifically included in writing.

Can storm damage cause mold?

Yes. Mold growth conditions can develop when storm water, wet materials, humidity, and limited airflow remain present. Fast water mitigation, drying, moisture control, and affected material handling help reduce that risk.

Does insurance cover storm damage?

Coverage depends on the policy, cause of loss, observed conditions, documentation, and carrier decision. Serve Xpert provides organized documentation but does not control coverage decisions, approvals, or claim outcomes. Storm Damage Restoration

Biohazard Cleanup Questions
What types of biohazard cleanup do you handle?

Serve Xpert provides cleanup for sewage, biological contamination, trauma-related conditions, hoarding conditions, animal waste, odor, contamination concerns, and other sensitive cleanup situations.

How can biohazard exposure happen?

Exposure can occur through direct contact with affected materials, skin contact, cuts or broken skin, the eyes, mouth, nose, or by touching contaminated surfaces and then touching the face. Some conditions may also involve airborne particles, fluids, or odor affecting nearby areas.

Is biohazard cleanup discreet?

Yes. Serve Xpert handles biohazard cleanup with privacy, professionalism, and respect for the circumstances involved.

Do you sanitize and disinfect biohazard areas?

Yes. Sanitizing, disinfecting, and decontamination may be performed based on the contamination type, product label directions, site requirements, and service being performed. Biohazard Cleanup

Do you handle pet urine odor?

Yes. Serve Xpert can provide pet urine odor support based on affected materials, odor source, carpet, padding, subflooring, baseboards, contents, and overall property conditions.

Can strong odors always be removed?

Odor control results depend on the source, affected materials, severity, access, and whether odor-affected materials can be cleaned or need removal.

Do you handle post-construction dust?

Yes. Serve Xpert provides post-construction dust cleaning for fine dust, drywall dust, sawdust, residue, surfaces, vents, cabinets, trim, fixtures, shelves, and other affected areas. Specialty Cleaning & Odor Control

Safety, Access & Occupancy
Can I stay in the property during restoration?

That depends on the type of damage, affected area, safety conditions, occupancy needs, contamination concerns, equipment setup, odor, and service requirements. Serve Xpert will explain any access restrictions before work begins.

Will equipment be loud or disruptive?

Drying equipment, air filtration, negative air, and odor-control equipment can create noise, heat, airflow, or limited access in certain areas. The exact setup depends on the service and site conditions.

Do you protect unaffected areas?

Serve Xpert may use floor protection, work-area setup, containment when needed, access protection, equipment placement, and separation from unaffected areas based on the project.

Do all projects need containment?

No. Containment depends on the service type, affected area, contamination level, airflow concerns, safety conditions, and work being performed.

Sanitizing, Disinfecting & Sterilization
Do you sanitize and disinfect?

Yes. Serve Xpert provides sanitizing and disinfecting for biohazard cleanup, sewage cleanup, mold-related cleaning, water damage cleanup, storm damage cleanup when contaminated or unsanitary conditions are present, specialty cleaning, contamination-related conditions, and other services where sanitizing or disinfecting is part of the service being performed.
